July Birthstone - Ruby

Ruby is from the Corundom family and is the sister to Sapphire.  Ruby is named because of its red color (Latin - "ruber").  Ruby is known as the King of Precious Stones. Inclusions are common and can help show the difference between a natural and synthetic stone.  Ruby is a 9 on Moh's scale of mineral hardness.  Ruby has an excellent hardness and is ideal for all types of jewelry.
